Introduction
oin our experienced teachers for a half day workshop looking at evidenced based low intensity CBT interventions that can be used by Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in Talking Therapies Services. We would like to provide an opportunity for new, and experienced PWPs to learn and refresh their knowledge of Cognitive Restructuring for mild to moderate Depression and Anxiety.
Cognitive Restructuring as a low intensity CBT approach is an effective intervention as part of the practitioner’s toolbox for treating Depression and Panic, (Marinan, 2019). Competent application of this method relies heavily on a specific set of skills and knowledge. This workshop will offer a refresher on when, why and how to use Cognitive Restructuring. The revised 2022 PWP national training curriculum includes Behavioural Experiments and therefore we would like to provide an opportunity to learn and refresh knowledge about integrating Behavioural Experiments into low intensity Cognitive Restructuring to promote behaviour change.
The event will be equivalent to 2.3/4hrs of CPD.
Content
The workshop will include:
• What are the steps to Cognitive Restructuring and why do we use it
• A refresher on when and when not to use low intensity Cognitive Restructuring
• What is a NAT?
• Using questioning effectively to promote cognitive shift
• How to enhance behavioural change within a Cognitive Restructuring approach through use of behavioural experiments
• Trouble shooting common challenges
Learning Objectives
Attendees will have:
• A refreshed understanding of the evidence base and rationale for Low Intensity Cognitive Restructuring.
• A reminder of the stages of Cognitive Restructuring in Low Intensity psychological interventions, including the role of Behavioural Experiments and the function of each stage within the intervention.
• Support to improve confidence in overcoming barriers to implementing effective Low Intensity Cognitive Restructuring
Training Modalities
During the workshop we will use a range of methods to facilitate learning such as didactic presentations, video demonstrations, Q&A and reflective exercises. Skills practice will be encouraged as a post workshop task.

Low Intensity clinical contact hours survey - BABCP Low Intensity Special Interest Group
Please click below if you are interested in contributing to the survey.
The BACP Low Intensity SIG are interested in the impact of clinical contact hours on Low Intensity/Wellbeing Practitioner wellbeing. This questionnaire contains six multi-choice questions and a free text box for you to share your experiences. The answers to these questions will help the BABCP SIG plan how to meet CPD topics and other developments within the SIG. The SIG hope to produce a write up of the answers to this questionnaire to be shared with SIG members and to be used in training.
This FREE conference is for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners working in Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression services and is brought to you by Bespoke Mental Health in collaboration with the NHS National PWP Leads Network.
