Introduction
Body image disturbance is a core feature of eating disorder pathology and can be seen as challenging to treat and slow to improve. Negative body image can cause significant distress to clients and lead to a range of checking and avoidance behaviours. This training will consider body image across the lifespan and how we can address it within a cognitive behaviour therapy framework.
The event will be equivalent to 2 hrs of CPD.
Content
This training will have a strong clinical focus with the emphasis on ensuring attendees grasp the essential basics of how to work with negative body image. The training will cover an introduction to body image and how to assess and formulate negative body image with your client. We will then consider a range of core treatment techniques (e.g., psychoeducation, behavioural experiments, exposure, compassion and values focused techniques) and how to develop the appropriate intervention plan for your individual patient.
Learning Objectives
• Develop an understanding of body image, particularly in relation to the eating disorders
• Develop skills in assessment and formulation of negative body image
• Able to select and implement treatment techniques
Training Modalities
This 2 hour workshop will include a combination of didactic content, polls and question and answer session.

Please click below if you are interested in contributing to the survey.
The BACP Low Intensity SIG are interested in the impact of clinical contact hours on Low Intensity/Wellbeing Practitioner wellbeing. This questionnaire contains six multi-choice questions and a free text box for you to share your experiences. The answers to these questions will help the BABCP SIG plan how to meet CPD topics and other developments within the SIG. The SIG hope to produce a write up of the answers to this questionnaire to be shared with SIG members and to be used in training.
