Clinical support tools for treatment adaptation in non-improving cases

Prof. Jaime Delgadillo

Tuesday, 9 February 2027

Introduction

Evidence based psychological interventions are effective for the treatment of various mental health problems. However, some patients do not respond well to standard protocol-driven interventions and continue to show persistent and unremitting symptoms during therapy. These cases usually present obstacles to improvement in four domains: alliance; motivation; interpersonal problems; and life events. This clinical workshop will cover the theory, evidence base and clinical support tools that can help to address these types of obstacles in non-improving cases.

The event will be equivalent to 2.3/4hrs of CPD.

Content

This workshop will cover the following two topics:
1. The four domains of clinical obstacles and underpinning theory and evidence base.
2. Clinical support tools for treatment adaptation.

Learning Objectives

• To understand the research evidence on factors that interfere with treatment progress.
• To understand the theory and techniques referred to as clinical support tools.
• To consider how to integrate clinical support tools into therapy, in a way that follows evidence-based practice.

Training Modalities

This workshop will involve the use of audiovisual materials, worksheets, video role-play demonstrations of therapy techniques, and group discussion via the chat function.
