Anna Freud Centre is providing subsidised places on this workshop for those NHS Trusts who have a subscription with Bespoke Mental Health, as part of the Centre’s bursary scheme. AFC is committed to supporting the NHS and collaborating with organisations that facilitate high quality CPD events for NHS staff, on a non-for-profit basis.
The event will be equivalent to 5.1/2hrs of CPD.
The workshop aims to refresh the key concepts and clinical stages in the DIT model, review the teaching materials and videos and introduce updated course material. It focuses on core aspects of the DIT model including negotiating the IPAF, using the attachment questionnaire and outcome measures, the defensive function of the IPAF as opposed to the defences, the reversal of the IPAF, working with the transference in DIT, mentalising and working with affect.

About the presenter
Deborah Abrahams is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the BPC, BPF, HCPC and BPS in the UK. Deborah is an experienced DIT trainer having run multiple trainings across England as well as abroad in China, Australia and Lithuania. She has held organisational responsibility for developing DIT in the UK since 2012 in her roles as UK DIT coordinator at the Tavistock’s Psychological Therapies Development Unit and then Lead of the unit from 2016 to 2017. She is currently the Programme Director of DIT at the Anna Freud Centre and involved in developing and delivering the extended DIT training commissioned by Health Education England in 2019-20. This course allows people without a psychodynamic background to train in DIT by developing their competencies in the DIT model during the year-long training. Alongside this, Deborah has a private psychotherapy practice in North West London as well as working part-time in the Camden & Islington Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Service in the NHS. She supervises people in both DIT as well as long term psychotherapy.
Who should attend
This workshop is for qualified DIT practitioners working in the Additional Modalities for Depression in IAPT who have undertaken the 5-day DIT training and who would like to refresh their skills.
