Dr. Melisa Robichaud
Dr. Melisa Robichaud is a Founding Director of the Vancouver CBT Centre, and is currently an adjunct faculty member in the UBC Department of Psychology, a clinical instructor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry, and a clinical associate in the SFU Department of Psychology. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Concordia University, completed her internship training at the UBC Hospital Anxiety Disorders Clinic, and a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at UBC Hospital. Dr. Robichaud is a past President of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT) and is on the Anxiety Canada Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Robichaud is certified as an expert in CBT by CACBT. Her area of specialization is CBT for anxiety disorders, most notably Generalized Anxiety Disorder. She has provided workshops internationally and has published numerous scientific articles and book chapters on the subject, as well as co-authoring several books on the treatment of GAD.
Professor Roz Shafran
Professor Roz Shafran is the Chair of Translational Psychology at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. Roz received her formative training from Professor Jack Rachman at the University of British Columbia. She is the founder and former Director of the Charlie Waller Institute of Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment at Reading University. Her clinical research interests focus on the development, evaluation, dissemination and implementation of cognitive behavioural treatments across the age range including anxiety, loneliness, perfectionism and Long Covid. She has received over £10m of research and training funding from national and international funding agencies and charities. She has provided national and international training workshops in her areas of clinical expertise, has over peer-reviewed 300 publications, and has written several books (most recently ‘How to Cope When Your Child Can’t: Comfort, Help and Hope for Parents’) and has received multiple awards for her work.
Dr. Maureen Whittal
Dr. Maureen Whittal received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1995 from West Virginia University. She completed her internship training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and a fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in eating and anxiety disorders before returning to Canada in 1996 to complete a second fellowship in the UBC Department of Psychiatry. In 1999 Dr. Whittal co-founded AnxietyBC (now Anxiety Canada) with her colleague, Dr. Peter McLean. Dr. Whittal is currently Clinical Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry and is Adjunct Faculty in the UBC Department of Psychology and is a founding director at the Vancouver CBT Centre. Dr.Whittal is certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy (ACT) and in 2003 received a year-long scholarship to train at ACT. Dr. Whittal also holds a Diplomate in CBT with the American Board of Professional Psychology, and is certified in CBT by the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
